If you want to bring your office into the 21st century, you can upgrade to a smart office, where you can control your lights, temperature and more through a touchscreen interface. While there are different options out there, combining an eSynC-PE adapter with a Samsung tablet provides a cost-effective solution.
LAVA’s eSynC-PE provides simultaneous charging and access to data to compatible USB-C Samsung mobile devices. The SimulCharge adapter uses Power over Ethernet (PoE), which combines power and a wired network connection over the same Ethernet cable. This allows the mobile device to communicate with other smart devices connected to the same network, such as a thermostat, lighting throughout the office and electronic window shades. With PoE, the adapter can be installed up to 328 ft (100 m) from the PoE-capable network switch or injector, giving greater options for tablet placement. It is a cost-effective solution because it doesn’t require an electrician to install dedicated AC lines.
As part of the e Series line, the eSynC-PE features Network Recovery & Battery Modulation (RBM) technology, which ensures the mobile device can run 24/7 and extends its longevity. Working in tandem with the LAVA Tablet Manager (LTM) app, Network Recovery can reset the Ethernet portion of the adapter if the Samsung mobile device’s network connection drops out. It’s the equivalent of unplugging the adapter and plugging it back in. It forces the adapter to reconnect to the network. This safeguard ensures a reliable connection between the mobile device and the smart devices on the same network.
Battery Modulation protects the mobile device from overcharging and its battery from bloating. Through the LTM app, the user can set upper and lower charging thresholds. When the battery charges to the upper threshold, the adapter turns off charging and lets the battery discharge until it hits the lower threshold. This feature ensures the battery never exceeds a 100% charge, even if it’s plugged in all the time. It extends the mobile device’s lifespan as constant overcharging can degrade the battery over time.
Screen Brightness Management is an additional RBM feature, which, as the name suggests, lets you adjust the brightness of the mobile device’s display. In the LTM app, you can set a daytime and a night-time brightness level. Unless your office is open 24 hours a day, you don’t need the tablet’s screen to be at full brightness all the time. Dimming the display can significantly reduce the amount of heat produced by the mobile device, which can also prolong its longevity.
If you wish to limit who has access to the tablet to control the temperature, lights and other smart devices, you can upgrade to the eSynC-P2UE, which includes two USB-A ports for peripherals. This way, you can add an RFID scanner to limit the access of who can use the tablet.
LAVA’s eSynC-PE with a compatible USB-C Samsung tablet provide a cost-effective smart office controller solution. The adapter’s PoE allows for easy setup and a direct connection to the network to control smart devices, such as thermostats, lighting and so on. Meanwhile, its RBM technology features ensure that the mobile device operates efficiently and will survive for a long time. For employers who wish to limit who can use the tablet, they can upgrade to the eSynC-P2UE and attach a USB RFID scanner for access level authorization.
