CABM

Continuously Active Battery Modulation

CABM is a plug-and-play battery modulation technology built into LAVA's u Series family of adapters. Designed to improve the longevity of mobile devices, CABM protects Lithium-Ion batteries from overcharging and swelling.

Have you noticed a decline in your device's battery life?

Overcharging your Lithium-Ion battery leads to a lower battery capacity, battery swelling, and, over time, device damage. So, what can you do when you have a permanent tablet installation that you have to leave plugged-in? LAVA has a technology that can help.

Our Solution

CABM or Continuously Active Battery Modulation technology

Built into LAVA’s u Series adapters and the Charge-Check, this hardware-driven technology turns off charging before your mobile device reaches a full charge. After a set period of time, the adapter starts charging again. This type of modulation protects your battery from overcharging, which in turn, increases your device's lifespan and your ROI.

How It Works

CABM is a plug-and-play battery modulation technology that requires no additional software or hardware to operate. It monitors the mobile device while it is charging, delivering power when you need it, and stopping when you don't.

CABM vs. RBM battery modulation graph

Step One.

CABM detects that the speed of the charge has slowed to a trickle, it disconnects power, as it indicates the mobile device is near a full charge

* Usually between 92%-98% charge

Step Two.

It allows the mobile device’s battery to discharge. During this time, the USB and/or Ethernet ports remain connected.

Step Three.

After a preset number of hours have passed, the adapter initiates the next charging cycle.

*On most CABM-equipped adapters, the length of the discharge time can be configured by the user.

CABM vs. RBM

CABM is distinct from Network Recovery & Battery Modulation (RBM), which is found in LAVA’s e Series SimulCharge™ adapters

RBM vs CABM Battery Modulation technology

While both offer battery protection, CABM is a plug-and-play technology, meaning it requires no extra software to run. RBM must be configured through an accompanying LAVA Tablet Manager (LTM) Android app, making it slightly more involved to set up but more robust. RBM also features Network Recovery that can rescue a dropped wired Ethernet connection.
