CABM

Continuously Active Battery Modulation

CABM is the plug-and-play Battery Modulation technology inside LAVA's u Series adapters, which is designed to improve the longevity of the mobile device by protecting it from overcharging and battery bloating

Have you noticed a decline in your device's battery life?

Overcharging of Lithium Ion batteries for short or medium amounts of time can lead to lower battery capacity, but long periods of overcharging (as seen in permanent or semi-permanent installations) can lead to catastrophic battery bloating and device damage.

Our Solution

CABM is a form of Battery Modulation that protects your mobile device from overcharging and battery bloating

Built into LAVA’s u Series adapters and the Charge-Check, the hardware-driven technology is designed to turn off charging before the mobile device reaches a full charge, protecting the battery’s lifespan. Increased longevity means a better ROI, while SimulCharge ensures the mobile device continues to do what you need it to do.

How It Works

CABM is a plug-and-play battery modulation technology that requires no additional software or hardware to operate. It monitors the mobile device while it is charging

graph

Step One.

CABM detects that the speed of the charge has slowed to a trickle, it disconnects power, as it indicates the mobile device is near a full charge

* Usually between 92%-98% charge

Step Two.

It allows the mobile device’s battery to discharge. During this time, the USB and/or Ethernet ports remain connected.

Step Three.

After a preset number of hours have passed, the adapter initiates the next charging cycle.

*On most CABM-equipped adapters, the length of the discharge time can be configured by the user.

CABM vs. RBM

CABM is distinct from Network Recovery & Battery Modulation (RBM), which is found in LAVA’s e Series SimulCharge™ adapters

RBM vs CABM

While both offer battery protection, CABM is a plug-and-play technology, meaning it requires no extra software to run. RBM must be configured through an accompanying LAVA Tablet Manager (LTM) Android app, making it slightly more involved to set up but more robust. RBM also features Network Recovery that can rescue a dropped wired Ethernet connection.

RBM Technology

CABM and SimulChargeTM Technology

Together, SimulCharge™ and CABM ensure your tablet kiosk, digital signage or other mobile device-powered setup works in a reliable and effective manner and can run 24/7. LAVA technologies are designed and manufactured to enable the best mobile experience.
